Aberdeen's main thoroughfare is Union Street, and in the years between 1954 and 2007, my lifetime, it's evolution has seen various transformation change the centre for commerce in ways that have seen the decline in retail presence to the current challenge of "off main street" malls and shopping complexes that are to be seen in the vicinity of the heart of the city.
The aim of this blog is to present images and text about the main streets of cities and towns across the globe. I wish to show how the main street of the submitted cities reflect the types of communities they are. I have access to my personal archive of photographs going back to the mid/late 70's which reflect the massive changes that have since taken place during the intervening years.
